EDELWEISSシリーズ

「女とは、生物的なメスとは何か？」。この永遠のテーマを、セックス、遺伝子、感情、表層などを切り口として探求し、シンボリックな花で表現したのがEDELWEISS シリーズです。

EDELWEISS シリーズとは

2000 年から本格的にスタートしたEDELWEISS シリーズは、土佐信道自身の「女性とは、そして生物的なメスとは何か？」という疑問がテーマです。

女性の持つ「子宮、遺伝子、表層、ファッション、エロス、母性」などの特徴を、架空の結晶の花「EDELWEISS」に象徴させ、その花を探すためのアイテムを自ら作り出す、いわば「シンデレラ（＝花）を見つけるためにガラスの靴を自分で作る」という、逆転した創造的プロセスを行なっています。

EDELWEISS PROGRAM

シリーズの中心には、思想をおとぎ話に置き換えて土佐が書いた「EDELWEISS PROGRAM」という物語があり、現在六つのシーンに分かれています。それぞれのシーンには、まず言葉によるストーリーがあり、それを絵にしたイメージがあり、そこからインスピレーションを受けて作られたナンセンス・マシーンがあります。これはちょうど映画の「シナリオ、絵コンテ、セット」の関係に似ています。
EDELWEISS の物語は、現在もその構想が膨らみ続けており、また、最終的にはすべてのおとぎ話の文章がナンセンス・マシーンに置き換わることを目指しています。

第一章　序章　Introduction

解放された生殖である白い花から、物語の中心を貫く「白いオイル」が作られ、人間がそれを見つける物語の序章

第二章　末京　The Matsukyo

二つのテクノロジー「オルガチカ」と「プラスチカ」の衝突を経て、欲望を暴走させたメスたちが作る理想郷「末京（まつきょう）」が描かれた章。

第三章　林檎のエンジン　The Apple Engine

現実のメスと対峙できないオスたちが作った理想郷「月宮」、そこに住む「ボク」が「母性とは何か？」を解くため、リンゴのエンジンで飛ぶロケットでメスの都「末京」へ向かう章。

第四章　プードルズの反乱　The Rebellion of Poodles

メスに服従する男娼である「ボク」が、メスたちが与えた拷問を乗り越えて「男性性」を獲得し、脆弱な地下生活者のオス達「Poodles」と蜂起してメスたちに攻撃をしかける章。

第五章　泣く羊　The Crying Sheep

胸に空いた「退廃の穴」のために涙を流し、失明していくメス。「オルガチカ」の技術者「ボク」が、感情の制御プログラム「ＢＡＫＵバク」を使って、その「退廃の穴」を封鎖する章。

第六章　歌う櫛　The Humming Comb

メスの代わりに「人工子宮」で子供を作る仕事をする「ボク」が、古代遺跡の発見にインスピレーションを受け、「美しい歌を歌う櫛」をオルガチカの技術で作り、メス達の欲望を花に変えていく章。

What are females like? The crystalized world of flower
EDELWEISS series

In the EDELWEISS series,the eternal themes “What a females like?” and “What are biological females like?” are explored from various angles,such as reproduction , sex, gene,emotion and surface,and are symbolically expressed with flowers.

What is EDELWEISS Series ? What is the essence of woman? What is the biological essence of female? These are the key questions that have been driving Nobumichi Tosa to produceEDELWEISS series since the year 2000. The concept of the series is to symbolize the issues surrounding womanhood–such as womb, gene, surface,fashion, eros and motherhood–as a fictional crystal flower named EDELWEISS, and to produce items those support the searching mission for the flower. The process of the project is thus follows an inductive method which can be phrased as: “making myself glass slippers to find Cinderella.

EDELWEISS PROGRAM The EDELWEISS series is based on a philosophical fairytale titled EDELWEISS PROGRAM, which presently consists of six scenes.
Behind each scene, there is a written narrative that leads to an imagery, which inspires the series of artwork called Nonsense Machines. This processis similar to that of movie making; in which a scenario is translated into astoryboard that configures props. The project is ongoing and expanding withthe ultimate goal of turning every line in the script into a Nonsense Machine.

１　Introduction Human being meets the “white oil”made of the white flower, which abandoned the will to control desire. This oil will be the key of the story.
２　The Matsukyo females with uncontrollable desires, building up their utopia “Matsukyo” after the impact of“Orgatica” and “Plastica”.
３　The Apple Engine “Boku” who lives in the male’s utopia “Gekkyu”, is traveling to “Matsukyo” with the apple
４　The Rebellion of Poodles “Boku” who is an gigolo wearing the green armor, is escaping from females’torture. He finally attacks females with weak males called “Poodles”who lives underground.
５　The Crying Sheep Females started to become blind because they were made cry for the “decadant hall”made on their chest. This is a chapter about“Boku” who is an engineer of the “Orgatica”, closes this “decadant hall” with “Baku”.
６　The Humming Comb “Boku” who belongs to the job of making babies instead of female with　The “Artificial uterus”. This chapter is about “Boku” turns females’ desires into flowers with the “Comb that sings a beautiful song”.

イントロダクション The Introduction

かつて地上を覆いつくした白い花から生まれた万能の白いオイル。それを見つけた人間たち。オスはプロペラを回して空を飛び、メスは服や化粧品を作ってその身を飾った。しかしこの白いオイルの生成物「プラスチカ」の人体への影響で、子供が作れなくなる。「プラスチカ」をあきらめた人間たちは、ガラスの子宮で生成物を作る「オルガチカ」の技術を開発する。すべてがうまくいきかけたとき、メスたちが叫んだ。「オルガチカは醜い。私たちが欲しいのはやっぱりプラスチカ」。未来を捨てて、その身を飾り始めたメス。あきれたオスは母性のシンボルである月へ逃げていく。かくして地上には「髪結い、男娼、按摩」などのオスだけが残り、欲望が開放されたメスたちは、自分たちの理想の都「末京」を建設し始めた。

Once upon a time on a planet that used to be covered with WHITE FLOWERS, habitants discovered a great amount of　WHITE OIL derived from the remains of the FLOWERS buried beneath the ground, and were fascinated by its　universality. Using the OIL, females produced gorgeous dresses and fine cosmetics to decorate themselves, and males build propeller planes to soar through the air, until they found out that PLASTICA–the products made of the OIL–causes sterility. Next came the golden age of ORGATICA, the technology that enables to “raise” products in glass wombs, but then females demonstrated their willingness to mortgage the future of civilization to fulfill their desires and fantasies as they shouted, “ORGATICA lacks beauty! We want PLASTICA back!” Disgusted with the females’ behavior, males with some few exceptions such as prostitutes, hairdressers and massagers left the planet and immigrated to their satellite, the maternal symbol called the Moon, and hence there was no one on the planet who could stop females from constructing their dream town, the city of MATSU-KYO.

１５０種類の化粧品が入った、ガラス瓶の弾丸を発射するマシンガン。「末京液」を製造。
A machine gun that fires 150 rounds of test tubes filled with “safe” cosmetics.

“飽きると「デリーター」と呼ばれる装置に捨て、それらのゴミは地下を通って都の六つの先端に運ばれました。そして巨大な大砲が、ゴミを郊外へと発射しました。そのため、都の周辺には、服や香水でできたゴミの砂漠がひろがりました。”

末京液のできるまで

①某大型ドラッグストアで購入した、150種類の体につけても安全な薬品（シャンプーや化粧水など）を試験管に注入。
②試験管をアクリルのマガジンに装填。
③マガジンを末京銃（マシンガン）に取り付け、高速で発射。
④水槽の壁に衝突し、試験管が破裂。飛び散った液体は傾斜のついた水槽の底面を伝わりガラス瓶に貯まる。
⑤ミックスされた液体を、「オイルから花が咲いた形」のカプセルに封入して完成。

How to create “Matsu-kyo Oil”.
①The bullets are 150 test tubes containing different kinds of cosmetics.Fill the 150 test tubes with different cosmetics such as shampoo,conditioner, lotion and moisturizer etc.
②Insert the test tubes into the magazine.
③Simply aim and shoot!
④The test tubes will burst onto the wall of a glass tank and the mixed liquids will flow into a cylinder.
⑤Bottle the mixed liquids into a capsule and cover with a flower-shaped top.

リンゴのエンジン　THE APPLE ENGINE

月へ移住したオスたちは、月を唯一の女性とする厳格な禁欲生活を送っていた。そこに住む「ボク」は、おじいさんから地球に住むメスたちの話を聞き、好奇心がわく。特別に栽培した「地球に引っ張られるリンゴ」をロケットの先にとりつけて地球に向かうが、地上で出会うメスたちの退廃ぶりに絶望する。そしてプラスチカの影響を受け、自分の体がメス化し始めていることに気づく。虚無感の中、リンゴで首を吊ろうとするが、胎児のイコンを抱いて歌うメスたちの集会を目撃する。自殺を思いとどめた「ボク」は身ごもることを決意する。

On the Moon, male colonists including Boku practiced a rigid asceticism,worshiping the Moon as our only consort. Nevertheless, Boku was attracted to the home planet after hearing the story of females from Grandpa, and so Boku followed my heart by fastening a FALLING APPLE specially grown for this purpose on the nosecone of a rocket. The decadence Boku saw on the surface of the planet was despairing but not as shocking as when Boku noticed my physical feminization due to the effects of PLASTICA. Boku decided to hang myself using the APPLE, but then Boku saw a gathering of females in which they sang holding fetus icons. Boku decided to get “pregnant.”
